From the quarry to the project: the journey of Basaltina®
Every Basaltina® product is the result of a process carefully attended to in every detail. From the quarry in Bagnoregio, to the area for block selection, to the laboratories where the stone takes shape: we monitor every phase to ensure quality and uniqueness.
Where everything originates
In the heart of Italy, our quarry in Bagnoregio is among the largest and most important in the Italian extraction sector: with over 600,000 square meters of extraction surface and 26 excavators and cranes engaged in daily excavation activities, Basaltina® stone is selected and worked with artisanal care.
La Cava has been providing employment, well-being, and development to thousands of families for 100 years, significantly contributing to the social and economic growth of the entire Viterbo inland area.
The company manages the quarry in full compliance with environmental, landscape, and labor protection laws, and is actively engaged in implementing policies for the safeguarding and care of the territory.
The square
After extraction, each block is transported to the operational heart of the Yard, where state-of-the-art machinery operates at full speed to square and cut the Basaltina® blocks.
Every day, the extracted blocks are processed at the Bagnoregio (VT) plant in the brand new squaring and cutting departments, completely renovated with diamond wire technology for a production capacity that is an order of magnitude greater than in the past.
All of this, combined with the experience and work of our skilled workers, allows us to respond to customer requests with timeliness and quality, through an increasingly solid and effective production process that is the foundation of the success of the Basaltina® brand.
In the laboratories of Basaltina S.r.l., the processing of stone is completed. The experience gained over time and the in-depth knowledge of the material allow the operators to achieve a finished product that enhances the natural characteristics of the stone.
Our laboratories are located both in the Bagnoregio Quarry and in the Ascoli Piceno facility: together they effectively serve as two parallel operational hubs, ensuring uninterrupted deliveries.
In the two facilities, thanks to the use of specialized machinery, including bush hammering machines, milling machines, and polishing lines, semi-finished products, finished products, and the characteristic textures that distinguish Basaltina® stone are produced.
Within our Quarry, a well-equipped mechanical workshop is responsible for the maintenance and repair of vehicles, ensuring continuity in extraction and processing activities. Additionally, Basaltina S.r.l. has an operational yard in Carrara, confirming a structured and strategic presence throughout the territory.
Every phase of our production process combines know-how and artisanal care to offer a high-quality stone that enhances every type of project.
